DOSTINEX 0.5 MG TAB 8 S

This medication is used to treat high levels of prolactin hormone in your body. High levels of prolactin in women can cause symptoms such as unwanted breast milk and missed periods and can cause difficulty becoming pregnant. High levels of prolactin in men can cause symptoms such as enlarged breasts and decreased sexual ability/desire. Cabergoline is an ergot medication and works by blocking the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland.

Direction to Use:

The recommended starting dosage of Dostinex Tablets is 0.25 mg twice a week. Dosage may be increased by 0.25 mg twice weekly up to a dosage of 1 mg twice a week according to the patient's serum prolactin level. Dostinex may interact with metoclopramide, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics (water pills), or other blood pressure medications. Tell your doctor all medications you use. During pregnancy, Dostinex should be used only when prescribed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. This medication may affect breast milk production. Breastfeeding while using this drug is not recommended.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, constipation, dizziness, lightheadedness, or tiredness may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
